Red River earns AMC environmental awards

The Army Materiel Command announced recipients of four Environmental Awards and two additional Green Awards for fiscal year 2012. Red River Army Depot was among the award recipients earning the Environmental Quality Award as well as the Green Installation Award.

According to the memo released by AMC, the Environmental Awards recognize departmental employees and partners who have attained exceptional achievements under Executive Order 13514 "Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy and Economic Performance."

The Environmental and Green Awards represent the innovation and accomplishments in sustainable practice, Installation Environmental management and community enhancement.

Each package submission was reviewed by an AMC panel who used criteria detailed in the Secretary of Defense Environmental Awards guidance to select the winners.

Other award recipients include the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant who received the Natural Resource Conservation Award in the large installation category; the Aviation Center Logistics Command's STAR 4D team won the Sustainability Team Award for its sustaining maintenance and reducing the environmental footprint program efforts; the Army Aviation and Missile Command G4 Environmental Division Sustainment Team received the Sustainability Award and the Green Innovation Award.
