U.S. Army Garrison Torii Station welcomes Command Sgt. Maj. Gilbert

OKINAWA, Japan (Oct. 10, 2013) -- Command Sgt. Major Antez Gilbert assumed the responsibilities and duties as the senior enlisted advisor of U.S. Army Garrison Torii Station during an Assumption of Responsibility ceremony held on Torii Beach today.
Members of Torii Station Fire and Emergency Services and Torii Station's Security Guard Forces stood in formation during the ceremony. The Color Guard consisted of members of the 247th Military Police Detachment.
"I am excited and thankful for this opportunity to serve as the Garrison Sergeant Major here on Torii-Station in Okinawa, Japan. This will be a broadening and challenging assignment. I remain committed to the mission with a sincere intent to improve the organization and the support we provide the stakeholders within our community. We provide critical services and support to the Soldiers, civilians, and family members located throughout Okinawa," said Gilbert.
Gilbert is joined in Okinawa by his wife ,Yulonda, and their daughter, Synia. Their son Aaron is currently attending college in the U.S.
The garrison's mission is to support U.S. Army Japan and installation partners on Okinawa to ensure mission readiness and the quality of life of the Army community in a sustainable, transforming joint and combined environment.
