Name: Spc. Christopher Householder
Years of Federal Service: Two years service with the U.S. Army
Activities/Hobbies: Bike Riding, Kayaking
Where do you work? Training Branch of J-37, JFHQ-NCR/MDW Fort McNair, DC
What is your job title? Training Specialist
Describe your job. In addition to performing my normal duties in the training office such as assisting with the Company Commander First Sergeant Course and the editing of the Annual Training Guidance, I have also been aiding the security office with personnel and physical security tasks.
What do you like best about your job? I love getting up and going to work every morning in the Nation's Capital with a variety of interesting people coming from many unique backgrounds. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't learn something new from the people I work with.
What is your most memorable experience during your time here at MDW? I came here as a Pfc. from a line unit at Fort Hood, TX. The first day I got here Mr. Mike Egly was showing me around. He brought me into the office and showed me to "my desk." I was astonished when I found out I was getting my own phone, computer, and desk as a Pfc.
Would you recommend working here to other federal employees? Yes; working here has been a very unique and rewarding experience. I am continually able to further my knowledge (not only about my current job but also about the DC area) and Fort McNair is a great place to gain experience working with many different people and services.
