Four Soldiers and four Noncommissioned Officers have been competing this week to see who will be selected as the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command's top Noncommissioned Officer and top Soldier.

Competing for the 2008 SMDC/ARSTRAT Noncommissioned Officer of the Year is Staff Sgt. Charles L. Robinson III (European Region NCO of the Year), Staff Sergeant Christopher Barber (Pacific Region NCO of the Year), Staff Sgt. Randolph Brown (Western Region NCO of the Year), and Sgt. Matthew Davidson (Eastern Region NCO of the Year).

Competing for the title of 2008 SMDC/ARSTRAT Soldier of the year is Spc. Michael R. Moore (European Region Soldier of the Year), Sgt. Joseph B. Knece (Pacific Region Soldier of the Year), Spc. Matthew S. Caple (Western Region Soldier of the Year), and Spc. Abigail H. Keller (Eastern Region Soldier of the Year).

The competitors have participated in an Army Physical Fitness Test, a written exam, Urban Orienteering, Weapons Qualification, and an intense and physically challenging Situational Training Exercise, and will be appearing before an administrative board throughout the day.

The selectees for the 2008 SMDC/ARSTRAT Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year will be announced in a ceremony at 10 a.m., July 25.
