FORT BENNING, Ga., (Sept. 11, 2013) -- Cpl. Jeremy S. Burt, B Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, pleaded guilty Aug. 22 to five specifications of assault consummated by battery. The following day, he was convicted by a court-martial panel composed of officers and enlisted Soldiers of an additional six specifications of the same offense.

While deployed to Afghanistan between October 2012 and January 2013, Burt punched 11 junior enlisted Soldiers on the abdomen, ribs and legs, leaving several injured.

The court-martial panel sentenced Burt to 90-days confinement, reduction to the lowest enlisted rank, private, forfeitures of $1,516.26 per month for three months, a reprimand and a bad-conduct discharge.

Pfc. Kevin M. Reen, A Company, Warrior Transition Battalion, U.S. Army Medical Department Activity, pleaded guilty Aug. 28 at a general court-martial to three specifications of attempted indecent conduct.

In December 2012, Reen sent sexually explicit text messages and video images of himself over the Internet to a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl, encouraging her to engage in sexual behavior. In reality, Reen was communicating with an adult representative of The Demand Project, a nonprofit organization combating child sexual exploitation, who forwarded evidence of the communications to law enforcement.

Reen was sentenced by the presiding military judge to a bad-conduct discharge and reduction to the lowest enlisted rank, private.
