SCHWEINFURT, Germany (Sept. 4, 2013) -- Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host U.S. Army Garrison Schweinfurt's last Operation Rising Star at Ramon's Bar and Grill beginning Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Anyone interested in participating in Operation Rising Star, must be a family member, 18 years or older or a service member. All participants are urged to register online or by visiting Finney Recreation Center to fill out an application.
Operation Rising Star is Army Entertainment's premiere vocal competition that showcases the talent of service members and their Family members. ORS provides service members and Family members a unique opportunity to entertain their military Family, to enhance their talents, and to connect the American public with their military.
The contest consists of three rounds, starting Sept. 20, continuing Sept. 27, and concluding Oct. 4. The winner of Schweinfurt's Operation Rising Star wins a $500 gift card and a chance to compete in the Army-wide finale at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, in December.
There will also be prizes awarded for second and third place participants, along with a $300 spirit award given to the garrison unit with the most crowd participation.
