Col. Timothy E. Hill, the first director of the Operational Energy, Contingency Basing Task Force for the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment.

PENTAGON, Washington DC (Aug. 26, 2013) -- The Army bid farewell to Col. Timothy Hill, the first director for Operational Energy-Contingency Basing Task Force, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment.

Hill served in a Title 10 status from the Army National Guard since 2009 and will return to a Title 32 status as he prepares for his retirement in September.

During a farewell ceremony, Col. Hill was awarded the Legion of Merit from the President of the United States of America for exceptionally meritorious service for his role as director leading the task force. He was commended for flawlessly operating in a high stress environment to mobilize and harmonize a team which included General Officers and Senior Executive Service leaders from the Training and Doctrine Command, Army Material Command, Central Command, US Forces Afghanistan, as well as diverse elements of the Secretariat and the Army Staff.

Hill passes the baton to Lt. Col. Anthony Mitchell. Mitchell, an engineering officer, brings vast experience in both contingency basing and operational energy having served multiple deployments downrange.

The ceremony, hosted by Hon. Katherine Hammack and held in the Hall of Heroes, was attended by Col. Hill's family, friends and colleagues.
