SCHWEINFURT, Germany (Aug. 29, 2013) -- The utility meters of all government leased housing are required to be read each year to determine the actual usage of electricity, gas, water and district heating.

For 2013 this process at U.S. Army Garrison Schweinfurt will start Sept. 3 and will continue until mid-October, conducted by Directorate of Public Work employees. In addition, another meter reading will be conducted in December.

This is required because the supply contracts will expire Dec. 31. The inspectors carry identification and will present it on request to verify their status.

DPW asks that residents ensure the authorized inspectors can gain easy access to the meters and that there are no heavy objects hindering their work.

DPW inspectors will work Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents wishing to establish an appointment for the meter reading can call either DPW Utilities Division at 09721-96-6412 or DSN 354-6412 or DPW Housing Office at 09721-96-6458 or DSN 354-6458.

DPW wishes to thank everyone in advance for their patience and assistance in getting this vital process accomplished.
