REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- The employees of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command bade farewell to their operations sergeant major.

Sgt. Maj. Rod Beach, G-3 sergeant major, retired from active duty during a ceremony at the command's Redstone Arsenal headquarters Aug. 9.

During the ceremony, Beach received a Legion of Merit, the Honorable Order of Saint Dominic, certificate of appreciation, three star note, an American flag, and a certificate of retirement and pin.

Beach retired with 27 years of active duty.
