SCHWEINFURT, Germany (July 31, 2013) -- U.S. Army garrisons Schweinfurt and Bamberg's Student Activity Centers were able to enjoy a day together here at Kessler field July 25. Each summer, neighboring SACs participate in a day of fun as a way to get to know other kids throughout Bavaria.

Schweinfurt and Bamberg came together for this year's partnership day.

"We thought it would be a great idea to partner with Bamberg this year because they are experiencing the same closure drawdown Schweinfurt is," said Damon McGibboney, USAG Schweinfurt's SAC director.

Throughout the day the children were able to meet one another and interact by participating in crafts and games together.

"The youth are all experiencing the loss of friends due to PCSing [permanently changing station] and closure, so this partnership might help some of them to meet someone that might be PCSing to the same location and a familiar, friendly face when they arrive," said McGibboney.

Due to upcoming closure between both garrisons, this is will be the last partnership day for the student activity center.

"This was so much fun because we got to see our friends that we haven't seen in a long time," said Arden Hanson, Schweinfurt SAC camper.

"We got to do things that we don't have in Bamberg, like batting cages and go-karts," said Dermon Richard," Bamberg SAC camper.
