July 30, 2013
FORT HOOD, Texas -- First Army Division West welcomed a new senior enlisted leader in a change of responsibility ceremony at Cameron Field near Division West headquarters July 30.
Command Sgt. Maj. Steven B. Brown took over the responsibilities of Division West from Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald E. Orosz.
"It was my honor to serve with all of you and I wish you the best in the future," said Orosz. Command Sgt. Maj. Brown is more than capable of handling the duties."
Brown's most recent assignment was as command sergeant major of the DIVWEST's 479th Field Artillery Brigade here.
The ceremony bid farewell to Orosz and his wife, Sue, who joined the Division West Family in October 2011.
"Fort Hood is a great place to serve," said Orosz. "When I left the 'Great Place' in 2009, I bragged about Fort Hood on many occasions and I'm sure I'll brag again."
Orosz will move on to become the command sergeant major of the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.
Maj. Gen. Warren E. Phipps Jr., First Army Division West commanding general, presided over the ceremony and had great things to say about his friend and colleague, Orosz.
"Today I have the distinguished honor to host this ceremony and highlight the significance of our standard-bearer," said Phipps. "Command Sgt. Maj. Orosz has been instrumental to the division and has truly lived up to the moniker of the NCO Corps as being the backbone of Division West."
"He has been a valued member of the Division West command team for nearly two years and he's been my steadfast battle-buddy and most trusted confidant," Phipps continued.
Phipps also took the time to talk about his new division senior noncommissioned officer.
"We enjoy incredibly fortunate timing in having a familiar face in Command Sgt. Maj. Brown as he steps up to temporarily man the helm," said Phipps. "A little more than a week has gone by since Command Sgt. Maj. Brown handed off his own sword of the 479th Field Artillery Brigade. I gladly welcome Command Sgt. Maj. Brown."
Division West welcomes Brown, his wife Tanya, to the division Family.
