CAMP WALKER, Korea - Col. Jordan S. Chroman took command of the 403rd Army Field Support Brigade from Col. Michael C. Lopez, who served as commander of the brigade since June 2011. The change of command was held at the Kelly Gym, Camp Walker, Daegu, Korea, June 26.

Lopez, the outgoing commander, passed the unit colors to Army Sustainment Command Commanding General Maj. Gen. John F. Wharton, who then passed to Chroman, symbolically formalizing his assumption of command of the 403rd AFSB. Lopez will head to the Defense Distribution Center in New Cumberland, Pa., for his next assignment.

Both Lopez and Chroman spoke to the audience and the Soldiers who attended the ceremony.

"403rd work force," Lopez said, "I am grateful for the countless hours you invested to take care of the Army's business and for maintaining the warriors."

Lopez and his wife Marianne wished Chroman and his family the very best in command.

"I am privileged to stand here today -- committed to training our Soldiers and civilians, to growing our leaders, and to setting the conditions for our teammates to do great things in an atmosphere of dignity, professionalism, integrity, and respect," Chroman said. "Together we will be prepared to focus the full strength of the 403rd Army Field Support Brigade, the Army Sustainment Command, and the Army Materiel Command to bear -- in order to support the full spectrum of operations in this theater and, when called upon, be ready to execute any mission our nation's leaders ask of us -- as the region's logistics powerhouse."

Prior to the ceremony, Wharton and ASC's Command Sgt. Maj. James E. Spencer presented the Legion of Merit medal to Lopez and a certificate of appreciation to his wife.
