WASHINGTON (June 26, 2013) -- Gen. John Campbell, vice chief of staff of the Army, posted the following on his Facebook page, June 26, 2013, concerning force structure changes that were recently announced:

"Yesterday the Army announced force structure decisions and stationing plans related to the 80K active component end-strength reduction driven by the 2011 Budget Control Act and 2012 Defense Planning Guidance. We will decrease the number of brigade combat teams, from 45 to 33. These reductions predate sequestration. If left unmitigated, full sequestration could require significant additional cuts across all components of the Army. Joined with me at the DOD media roundtable to provide greater context on this issue were Lt. Gen. James L. Huggins, deputy chief of staff for Operations, and Maj. Gen. John M. Murray, director of Force Management."-- General John F. Campbell, vice chief of staff of the U.S. Army
