    Garrison boosts interaction with Yongsan-gu

YONGSAN, Republic of Korea -- The 20th annual Yongsan-gu citizens' day ceremony held place on May 25. U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan, Headquarters and Headquarters Company soldiers participating in a tug of war match between the soldiers and Korean guests.

Participants of the ceremony welcomed soldiers with warmth, making the ceremony meaningful for both Yongsan-gu and U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan.

"It is not a usual thing for me to see a U.S Army soldier," said Kim Seung-yong, a citizen who participated in the soccer competition of the day. "They have shown hospitality from the moment they arrived here. A lot of citizens are pleased to see U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan interacting with local community. I hope this kind of relationship goes on through time."

The soldiers enjoyed the ceremony which included athletics competitions, a percussion performance by the team FROM KOREA and a folk song performance by several invited professional singers.

"I am definitely having fun here," said Pfc. Willis. B. Joshua, who participated in the tug of war match. "People are friendly and the performance by various teams is amazing. This kind of activity not only helps soldiers enjoy their weekend but also promotes camaraderie among the garrison and local community."

U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan has been aiming to strengthen the rapport with Yongsan-gu through various activities including planting trees on Arbor Day and delivering rice to senior citizens. As a part of this effort, participation in Yongsan-gu citizens' day plays a crucial role in promoting intercommunication with the local community.
