CRANE, Ind. -- The National Society of Professional Engineers named Crane Army Ammunition Activity Director of Manufacturing and Engineering Dr. Scott Haraburda as a Fellow of the Society in recognition of his leadership, service, and dedication during a ceremony in June.
One of nineteen engineers honored by NSPE, Haraburda received a special recognition plaque and pin from Harve Hnatiuk, PE, vice president of NSPE, during the 2013 conference of the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers June 14 in Indianapolis. Later, Hnatiuk installed Haraburda to the executive board of ISPE as its President-Elect for the 2013-2014 year.
NSPE, in partnership with the State Societies, is an organization of licensed Professional Engineers and Engineer Interns. Its mission is to enhance the image of its members and their ability to ethically and professionally practice engineering through education, licensure advocacy, leadership training, multi-disciplinary networking, and outreach.
Haraburda is the tenth engineer in the State of Indiana to be recognized with this distinguished honor. In addition to directing Crane Army's manufacturing and engineering efforts, Haraburda is a retired U.S. Army colonel. In recommending Haraburda, Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Talley, Chief of Army Reserve and Commanding General for the U.S. Army Reserve Command, wrote, "Awarding him Fellow Membership grade would be a tremendous asset to the future of professional engineering."
Established Oct. 1977, Crane Army Ammunition Activity maintains ordnance professionals and infrastructure in order to receive, store, ship, produce, renovate and demilitarize conventional ammunition, missiles and related components. The Army activity is a subordinate of the Joint Munitions Command and is located on Naval Support Activity Crane.
