Schweinfurt fruit picking now open
Strawberry-picking season is here and farmers around Schweinfurt invite you to pick your own. Look for signs like the one pictured here.

SCHWEINFURT, Germany (July 2, 2013) -- Local farmers throughout the Schweinfurt area grow fields of strawberries, known as Erdbeeren in German, and the season to pick them is now. What's more, some farmers even allow you to pick other fruits and vegetables.

With the summer weather officially here, picking strawberries is one way to get the whole family together and enjoy the weather. Due to the unusually cold and dark spring, according to one farmer, the traditional strawberry season is starting a little later than normal, but will last, however, until the end of July.

And if you want to go with a group, always check to see if ACS has organized a trip.
Visiting one of the local farmers can provide both fresh fruit and family fun. Participants should not forget their sunscreen!
