• SAN ANTONIO - Maj. Gen. Adolph McQueen Jr., guest speaker at the Retama Manor Nursing Center, addresses the audience June 14 at a Flag Day Ceremony in Alamo City. "Today we celebrate Flag Day and the Army's 238th birthday " both in recognition of our country, and our military service," said McQueen. His speech embodied this year's Army birthday theme:  service to the nation, strength for the future. A team of Fort Sam Houston Army Soldiers raised the inaugural Old Glory up the centers' newly installed flag pole in commemoration of the more than 30 Armed Forces veterans who reside at Retama Manor. McQueen is the deputy commanding general for support, U.S. Army North (Fifth Army).
