Maj. Gen. John Wharton, commanding general, Army Sustainment Command and Rock Island Arsenal, Ill., briefs headquarters personnel on the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) program June 21 during a special town hall. Wharton told attendees that the SHARP program is the Army's No. 1 priority. Earlier in the month, Wharton personally inspected command member's work areas for any inappropriate material. None was found, he reported.
According to guidance given by the Army Materiel Command, ASC's higher headquarters, the Army is committed to eradicating sexual harassment and sexual assault in its ranks. The Army's objective is to stop sexual harassment and sexual assault by creating a climate that respects the dignity of every Soldier, civilian and Family Member, as well as those outside the military community.
