Echo Company Bids Farewell to Command Team

OKINAWA, Japan -- Lt. Col. Karen J. Roe (left), commander of the 53rd Signal Battalion (SATCON), passes the Echo Company guidon to incoming commander Capt. Jack H. Cooperman during a combination Change of Command/Relinquishment of Responsibility June 3. Soldiers and family members were present to bid farewell to Capt. Jason T. Sharritt and 1st Sgt. Christopher F. Sorensen who successfully completed two years as the command team for Echo Company. Both Sharritt and Sorensen received the Meritorious Service Medal for their service with the company. Cooperman hails from Hobart, N.Y., and recently served in the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Division as the 3rd Squadron maintenance officer, where he led the squadron's reset operations. Echo Company is one of five Wideband Satellite Communications Operations Centers around the world ensuring continuous communications connectivity for mission critical subscribers, such as Warfighters on the ground.
