US supports ANA with air medevac
U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Joel Irby, platoon sergeant, 4th Platoon, Company D, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2/10 Security Forces Assistance Brigade, helps Afghan National Army soldiers of 3rd Kandak, 2nd Brigade, 203rd Corps bear a wounded ANA soldier to the aid station at Combat Oupost Zerok, May 27, 2013. There was no litter available, so the soldiers improvised and carried the casualty on a cot. The casualty was assessed by ANA and U.S. medics, then evacuated on a U.S. medevac helicopter. The ANA took the lead on first response treatment procedures during Operation Zafar, a 10-day security patrol into Afghanistan's Nikeh District. U.S. forces accompanied the ANA as advisers and assisted with air and fire support when necessary. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Spc.
