ANSBACH, Germany -- Community, fun, food, fire trucks, and prizes, what more would a child want? May 17, 2013 marked the encore performance for the Spring Carnival at Illesheim Elementary School (IES), sponsored by the IES Parent, Teacher, and Student Association (PTSA).

Ms. Emily Bachman, the 2-159 Family Readiness Support Assistant (FRSA) and IES PTSA membership chairperson, gave a short history and significance of the Spring Carnival. "This is our second Spring Carnival. The first one was held just after our Soldiers deployed over a year ago and was a great way to give the children a fun time and serve as a cornerstone of support for our community. Now that all our Soldiers have returned, the Spring Carnival is a great way to celebrate the fact that our community is now whole again."

The Spring Carnival is the IES PTSA's main fund raising event and the money raised not only helps fund more community events, but also assists in purchasing educational supplies and funding programs and for IES.

The Spring Carnival featured many different types of games for the children to try, a cake walk, an inflatable "bouncy" castle, a fire truck, and perhaps the most exciting for the children, a dunk tank.

Ms. Bachman and the IES PTSA would like to thank Ms. Kim Carlisle the event coordinator, all the Soldiers and spouses of the community that volunteered, and especially the principal of IES, Ms. Audrey Griffin, for letting them hold the event on the grounds of Illesheim Elementary School.
