Dugway Proving Ground, UT

Directorate of Emergency Service's (DES) hosted a Law Enforcement Dinner Banquet on Saturday, May 18 2013. Partnering with our neighboring agencies, Tooele County Sheriff's Office and Grantsville City Police Department, we had a total of 84 attendees. Among the attendees were the Mayor of Grantsville, members of the Grantsville City Council, and 3rd District Court, Judge Darold Butcher. It was a great opportunity for all the guests to visit and talk with one another while enjoying a great meal.

The following Law Enforcement employees within DES were recognized for their achievements and successes.

> Police Officer of the Year- Officer Travis Wall

> Security Officer of the Year- SGT Trevor Lay

> Dispatcher of the Year- Lead Dispatcher Jennifer Ball

> Chief's Award- Dispatcher Heather Dekanich, LT Nicholas Drake, CPT Earl Scofield Jr and Mr. Brent Wilder

> Time in Service Awards- Officer Devin McNicol and Officer Kirismasi Vaveao; Commander's Award for Civilian Service- Investigator James Dekanich

Certificates of Appreciation were given to various DES employees for the recent downed grebe incident.

SGT Ron Johnson from the Tooele County Sheriff's Office was given a Certificate of Achievement for winning the "Tooele County's Finest Top Shot competition"

Certificates of Appreciation were also given to the Tooele County Sheriff's Office and Grantsville City Police Department for their participation in the Dugway hosted events for National Law Enforcement week.

The event concluded with a video/photo tribute of those fallen officers who had lost their lives in the line of duty this past year- and memorable events of the Dugway Police Department and the other surrounding agencies in the Tooele County area.

After the event Dugway's Chief DES and his wife, Sadie traveled to the Tooele County Sheriff's Office and provided the night shift crew with desserts from the dinner banquet.

The planning committee Lead Dispatcher Jennifer Ball, Dispatcher Heather Dekanich, LT Nicholas Drake, and Mr. Brent Wilder did a great job setting up the event.

It was a great success and hopefully will become an annual event.
