CAMP HUMPHREYS -- U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys is hosting Spring Fest 2013, May 18, from noon -- 10 p.m., at Independence Park. This event will be open post and open to everyone. The USAG Humphreys, mission units and members of our local Korean community can participate to celebrate the arrival of spring and promote friendship and cross-cultural understanding by combining U.S. and Korean entertainment, food, games and sporting events.

The primary intent is to build teamwork and esprit de corps between U.S Soldiers, family members, civilians, and members of our local Korean community. Most activities will occur in the vicinity of Independence Park, the Main Gate, Augusta West Miniature Golf Course and the Bowling Center. There will be a combined effort of the U.S. and local Korean community to provide food and entertainment, various vendors and activities on the installation, which will include the 8th Army and local bands, Korean folk music, traditional Korean craft and food making, roving entertainers, inflatable games, children's field games, eating contests, martial arts demonstrations and Korean cultural dancers.

Korean citizens who do not normally have access to the garrison may access the post on foot only through either the Main Gate or the Pedestrian Gate, starting at noon. Valid identification in the form of the KID, passport or driver's license must be shown. The Main Gate will close to vehicle traffic at 11 a.m. and open for pedestrian traffic at noon. Independence Park, the Alaska Mining Company and Splish & Splash Water Park will be open to the Korean community via access control points. That evening, the Main Gate will close to pedestrian traffic at 10 p.m. and re-open to vehicle traffic at 11 p.m. Also, the Quarry Gate will be closed to vehicle traffic after 11 p.m.
