REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. - The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command workforce officially met the command's new command sergeant major during a town hall April 30 at the Von Braun III auditorium.

Command Sgt. Maj. James N. Ross, who assumed responsibility as the new CSM April 26, introduced himself and told the workforce about his background.

A number of awards were presented during the town hall. An individual award was presented to Dan Smith, the Australia Day Medallion, and the service members and civilians who volunteer to support Redstone Arsenal's Survivor Outreach Services were recognized for their efforts. The service members recognized with a Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal were: Lt. Col. Wes Young, Sgt. 1st Class Charles Peters, Sgt. 1st Class Victor Marzan, Master Sgt. Tanya Savell-Marzan, Sgt. 1st Class James Sneed, and Lt. Col. Chuck White, and not present was Col. James Jenkins. The civilians recognized with a Certificate of Achievement for Patriotic Civilian Service were: Kaye Blankenship, Sam Bertling, K.C. Bertling, Brenda Armstrong, Dr. Jack Tomkovich, Rick Judy, Tisha Crespin, Luis Ferrar, Lian Pino, and Phil Patterson.

Two length of service awards were also presented. Lee Hilbert and Wanda Tucker both received a 30-year certificate and pin.
