  • 2008 U.S. Army Drill Sergeant of the Year competitor, Sgt. 1st Class Curtis Ratliff Jr., negotiates a confidence course obstacle at Fort Eustis, Va., on June 18. It was the final event of a two-day field exercise that also included road marches, land navigation courses, weapons qualification and warrior task testing.  Earlier in the week, the candidates completed an Army Physical Fitness Test. The competition awards ceremony is scheduled for June 20 at Fort Monroe.
