FORT SILL, Okla. (April 25, 2013) -- The Lawton/Fort Sill Bass Anglers enjoyed a wonderful day of competitive bass fishing at Duncan Lake, April 6. Eighteen members met early in the morning at Lake Humphrey to receive a safety briefing and then proceeded to fish either Lake Fuqua, Lake Humphrey or Duncan Lake.

The results proved that members who selected Lake Fuqua made the right choice. The top fish caught all came from that body of water.

Dennis Plunkett produced a five-fish limit that resulted in first place and one of our top total weights ever recorded by a club member with an impressive 22.14-pound total. He also caught the big bass of the day with a 6.7 pounder.

Brad Irby also caught a five-fish limit for second place weight of 14.52 pounds. Third place went to Josh Fritsche with a three-fish weight of 4.56 pounds.

The club caught 20 bass that day for a total weight of 54.42 pounds. The fishermen released all of them back into the lakes to be caught another day.

The Lawton/Fort Sill Bass Anglers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting bass fishing in our area as well as educating others to our sport. The organization is open for membership to both Soldiers and civilians.

People who would like to join do not have to own a boat, and we make every effort to accommodate all non-boaters throughout the tournament season.

Yearly membership dues are $35, and the next club meeting is May 1 at 7 p.m. in the classroom of the Fort Sill Sportsmen Services. The club's May tournament will be May 5 at Fort Cobb Lake. Come on out and enjoy one of Southwest Oklahoma's most popular outdoor sports.
