Pine Bluff Arsenal was recognized recently with two awards by the Combined Federal Campaign of Greater Arkansas/Heart of Arkansas United Way.

The first award was for fourth place for the largest campaign for the 2012 CFC. The Arsenal gave approximately $67,983 during the campaign. "We are ranked fourth out of 70-plus federal agencies," said Laura Hiserodt, PBA CFC coordinator. "There were several agencies that had more employees than PBA. However, we were still able to give above and beyond. I thought that was pretty impressive."

First place went to Central Arkansas Healthcare System, second place was the Little Rock Air Force Base, third place was the Arkansas National Guard, and fifth place was the U.S. Postal Service.

The second award was a CFC Bronze Award. Hiserodt explained that this award was presented to the Arsenal based on the level of giving by the employees on post. "The average amount given by employees was between $60 and $89," she said.

The 2012 campaign saw a big change with the Arsenal moving into the CFC of Greater Arkansas. In a January Arsenal Sentinel article, Hiserodt said the decision to move was a good one.

"They (CFC and Heart of Arkansas United Way) were extremely supportive and organized, this helped me out tremendously. If there were any mistakes made by me, they were able to discover

them and correct them," she said. "For us to still exceed our goal this year with fewer employees made it a bit more challenging, but it was a big deal. But, then again it is always a big deal."

The CFC is one of only two fund drives allowed on U.S. Army installations during work hours. It affords all employees an opportunity to contribute to one or more charitable, humanitarian or medical research organizations at a local or national level.
