REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- The Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center's Engineering Directorate has received an Alabama Performance Excellence Award.

The award is administered by the AlaQuest Center for Performance Excellence, which assists organizations to achieve excellence and efficiency through training and education, workforce development and best practice sharing.

Former ED director Patti Martin said the award demonstrates the commitment of the work force to technical excellence and the effectiveness of the directorate's technical processes and partnerships. Martin was director at the time the award application was submitted.

"Recognition for this award demonstrates to ED's customers our commitment to achieve our vision of maintaining mission excellence and continual focus on the war fighter," Martin said. "Because of the comprehensive nature of the Alabama Performance Excellence Award's criteria and emphasis on results, ED's recognition for this award means our customers can be assured of receiving best value products and services when they partner with us."

The Level 1 Commitment to Excellence Award is granted to organizations that have made a serious commitment to use and implement performance excellence concepts and principles and have already begun to deploy systematic management and improvement processes.

The directorate is part of the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command's aviation and missle center. For information on the AMRDEC Engineering Directorate, visit its website.
