The 404th Army Field Support Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., and Washington National Guard joint Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training ended March 28. A total of 13 students received diplomas at the graduation ceremony held at the Army Reserve Readiness Center at JBLM.
National Guard Chief of Staff Ron Kapral presented instructors Thomas Ferguson, Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Ill., and Robert Farr, a certified Master Black Belt for Lean Six Sigma, 404th AFSB, with a coin each from Brig. Gen. Wallace Turner, the National Guard assistant to the Washington State Adjutant General.
The joint effort was an example of how active-duty resources can assist Reserve Component forces within the brigade footprint.
The local Team and Organizational Development Office, witnessing the success of the 404th AFSB-Guard effort, has contacted Farr to determine the possibilities of a collaborative LSS Black Belt Class at JBLM to include as many local commands as possible. Conducting classes locally will enable training across command lines, defray temporary duty travel and class overhead costs, while allowing maximum participation.
