GRAFENWOEHR, Germany (Nov. 20, 2015) -- Soldiers from the 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command bid farewell to Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey R. Huggins and welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey D. Sweezer during a change-of-responsibility ceremony, Nov. 20, 2015, here at the Grafenwoehr Physical Fitness Center.

Brig. Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli, the commander of JMTC, presided over the ceremony as Huggins handed over responsibility as the senior enlisted advisor to Sweezer.

"Command Sgt. Maj. Huggins' reputation is wider than I can stretch my arms," said Cavoli. "His technical and tactical expertise, his moral compass, and his unwavering commitment to the command and its Soldiers is mind boggling to me."

Huggins has served as the JMTC senior enlisted advisor since February 2013. During his tenure, he played a key role in shaping multinational exercises and training support provided to Operation Atlantic Resolve in Eastern Europe.

"The relationship and trust we have built with our multinational partners and Allies over the last couple of years, since the start of the Combined Resolve series of exercises, has gotten us somewhere we haven't been for many years," said Huggins.

Huggins was also active in the quality-of-life improvements for U.S. Army rotational forces deployed to Grafenwoehr in the form of upgrades to the barracks, fitness center and USO facilities.

"It has been an absolute honor to have this job as the Joint Multinational Training Command command sergeant major," said Huggins. "I look at the accomplishments of all these organizations and I am in awe. They have the eyes of the world upon them and perform beyond expectations. I look forward to seeing what this command does in the future."

"As we depart Germany, I feel good knowing the command is in great hands. Sgt. Maj. Sweezer comes to you with the knowledge, skills and attributes to take this command to the next level," said Huggins.

Huggins will now assume responsibility as the new deputy commandant of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy in Fort Bliss, Texas.

Sweezer arrives to JMTC after serving as the command sergeant major of the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and has more than 27 years of active duty service.

"It is an honor and privilege to be selected to serve as the command sergeant major of JMTC for these great Soldiers and their families," said Sweezer. "I often thought that Hawaii was a well-kept secret, but I have been learning quickly that Bavaria, and JMTC, is an even better kept secret."

The ceremony ended with Sweezer taking charge of the formation and retiring the colors.
