Retired Spc. Puertas's impressive run earned him his first gold medal at the Warrior Games. The Warrior Games are a weeklong annual event pitting 260 wounded, ill or injured service members from across the Department of Defense and United Kingdom against each other. The competitions will cover seven sports: archery, cycling, shooting, sitting-volleyball, swimming, track and field and wheelchair basketball. Warrior Games are representative of a great Warrior Care and Transition Program that heals and transitions Soldiers back into the Army or their communities with dignity and self-determination.
