The 16th Military Police Brigade and Fort Bragg's director of the Directorate of Emergency Services, hopes to create a professional environment where junior female Soldiers are able to learn from the experiences and share the knowledge of more seasoned female Soldiers. To that end, the Women in Uniform Mentorship Program was created. The program pairs Soldiers in the rank of private through staff sergeant and lieutenants with mentors at the sergeant first class level and higher.

His father, Sgt. 1st Class Michael Tuttle, was in the audience and no stranger to the grounds. Now assigned to Company C, 1-330th Infantry Regiment, the elder Tuttle graduated from the school in 2009. Both men are Army Reservists who reside in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Across-the-board automatic federal budget cuts went into effect March 1 that could require civil servants to take one day of unpaid leave each week until the end of September. The furloughs are scheduled to begin April 26. Once notices arrive, employees have a seven-day window to appeal. Fort Jackson has scheduled two town hall meetings March 27 and 28 to allow command to directly address how the potential furloughs will impact day-to-day activities on Fort Jackson.

The trip marked the culmination of the traveling book club's activities for this quarter, which included a viewing of the film "Judgment at Nuremberg" and William F. Buckley Jr.'s book "Nuremberg: The Reckoning." The Traveling Book Club, organized by the community libraries at Storck and Bleidorn, are planning more trips.

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - For as long as he can recall, Sean Kief has always known about the Perry Hall Mansion in Baltimore County. The APG Garrison photographer says the 250-year-old edifice, which the town of Perry Hall was named after, was the subject of countless vivid stories delivered by his grandmother, Myrl M. Smith, who was born inside the mansion and who served as Postmaster for the Fullerton postal branch in the 1950s and 60s. Adulthood did not diminish Kief's fondness for the quiet yet compelling history of the famous building. He eventually joined the Historic Perry Hall Mansion Inc. group, an organization dedicated to maintaining, managing and promoting the mansion, and with help from the group's administrative director, Jeffrey Smith, began an information-gathering project that resulted in a book contract with Arcadia Publishing, the nation's leading local history publisher.
