Natick Soldier Systems Center hosts annual anti-terrorism exercise

NATICK, MA. - The U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center, Natick and the U.S. Army Garrison-Natick is hosting its annual anti-terrorism and force protection exercise, Operation Lasting Calm, Thursday, May 20 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The training event will exercise the installation's emergency management plans.

The event will include activation of hazardous materials clean-up teams and emergency response teams, simulated casualties and an increase to the installations security posture. This will include realistic training in which there will be increased traffic from first responders in the Kansas Street area of Natick. First responders from the surrounding areas will assist in this exercise, bringing emergency vehicles on the installation.

First responders and community agencies participating in the exercise include: Natick Police; Natick Fire; Department of Homeland Security; State Department of Public Health Radiological Control Unit; Defense Coordinating Element (U.S. Army North), Massachusetts Army National Guard and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).
