"Ready Army"

September 2009

WHEREAS, "National Preparedness Month" creates an important opportunity for every member of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command to prepare their installation, workplace, homes, and communities for any type of emergency from natural disasters to acts of terrorism; and

WHEREAS, investing in the preparedness of ourselves, our families, installations, and local communities can save lives, lessen the impact of disaster, and ensure mission assurance; and

WHEREAS, Ready Army is the Army's program for individual and family emergency preparedness. Ready Army, the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Ready Campaign, Citizen Corps, along with other federal, state, local, private and volunteer agencies are working to increase public awareness concerning the importance of preparing for emergencies and to persuade individuals to take action; and

WHEREAS, emergency preparedness is the responsibility of every Soldier, their Family, Army Civilian and contractor of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command. All members are urged to make preparedness a priority by taking three simple steps:

1. Make an Emergency Kit with enough supplies for a minimum of 3 days.

2. Develop a Family Emergency Plan, including a communication plan.

3. Become informed about the types of emergencies and related emergency actions that can occur at your installation, and in your local community.

WHEREAS, all members of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command are encouraged to get involved in Ready Army by participating in preparedness activities and visiting the Ready Army campaign's Web site at http://www.ready.army.mil.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Wilson, LTG, USA, Commander, U.S. Army Installation Management Command do hereby recognize September 2009 as Ready Army and National Preparedness Month.
